Working from home

During this Pandemic, many people have had to work at home.  Some have found that they could do their job almost as good at home as they could at the office.

With many church activities reduced or cancelled, as Christians we have had to “work from Home” as well. There are many things we can do as Christians very well from home.

Pray: “Go into your Closet”

Jesus did not teach “Marketplace” prayers, but closet praying. “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door.” (Matthew 6:6)

Do you have a special place at home where you pray? This is a great time to increase your prayer life.

Study and Teach at Home:

Since our schools have closed back in the Spring Many parents have had to become Teachers. In so doing parents, and even grandparents, have had to study.

Paul reminded Timothy of his “home schooling;” “The faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice.” (2 Timothy 1:5)

What a great time now to begin a more serious Bible study time at home. That thirty-minute sermon you get from your preacher is never enough study for any serious Christian.

Practice Hospitality:

We are reminded in the scriptures; “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2)

Being hospitable is to be a characteristic of Christianity. This has become a lost characteristic of Christians in today’s world.

This is a good time to invite neighbors, family, and church members into your home to develop stronger relationships. Our home is one of the greatest evangelistic tools we have, yet unused.

Conclusion: Yes, a lot of our Christianity can be practiced at home! I do believe that we center our faith too much around our church buildings, and not enough around our homes.

How well are you doing “working from home?”
