Six Feet Apart

When I was in High School, some of my friends played pool and wanted me to join them down at a local Pool hall. Mom said, “Absolutely not,” and quoted to me, “Evil companions corrupt good morals” (KJV of 1 Co. 15:33). Mom made sure that I stayed “six feet apart” from that which she felt would be a bad influence on me.

This pandemic could have some good consequences. Perhaps a drug user cannot get to his supplier, or a gambler cannot go to the casino, and maybe a young man, now with his mom at home 24 / 7 is unable to hang out with the neighborhood gang. I wonder how many marital affairs have ended with everyone having to “shelter in place”?

When someone tests positive for Covid-19, the first question the doctor will ask is, “Who have you been associating with?” That question may not only have consequences concerning your physical health, but your spiritual health as well. There is an old Italian proverb that says, “He who lives with wolves will learn to howl.”

There are people, places, and things we would all do well to stay “Six-feet apart” from, including the Pool Hall. Mom was probably right
